Welcome to Sequoia Schools Student Transportation Services. We are looking forward to another safe year providing busing for students to and from school. Here are some of the minimum standards that the Department of Public Safety requires us to follow. We appreciate you going over these with your children for their safety as well as the safety of all the students on the bus. Rules are in accordance with the Arizona Minimum Standards Rule 17, Chapter 9, Article I (R17-9-104).

• Passengers shall comply with all instructions given to them, by a school bus driver. A passenger or non-passenger who has boarded the school bus that refuses to comply with the bus driver’s instruction may be surrendered into the custody of a person who is authorized by the department to assume responsibility of the passenger or non-passenger.
• All passengers shall sit with their back against the seat backs, their legs facing towards the front of the bus and parts of their bodies clear of the aisle.
• A passenger shall not carry on a school bus, or consume while being transported in a school bus any controlled substance or any beverage containing any alcohol.
• A school bus driver shall not transport any animals, insects, or reptiles in a school bus with the exception of service dogs, as defined in A.R.S. 11-1024(G)(3), which assists passengers with disabilities.
• Except for eye glasses, a passenger or a school bus driver shall not carry or transport glass objects on a school bus.
• A school bus driver or a passenger shall not carry or transport in a school bus an explosive device, matches or lighter, gun, knife, skateboard, or roller blades.
• A passenger shall not place any part of the passenger’s body out of a school bus window or door except when exiting the school bus, throw objects out of the windows or yell out of the windows.
The following rules are posted at the front and rear of each bus and shall be followed by all passengers.

1. Observe the same conduct as you would in the classroom/No student has the right to interfere with the safety of others.
2. Be courteous and DO NOT use profane language.
3. Do not eat or drink anything other than water on the school bus.
4. Keep the school bus clean
5. Cooperate with the driver. DRIVERS CAN ASSIGN SEATS
6. Do not be destructive towards the school bus or other students belongings
7. Do not spray cologne, hairspray or perfume while on the school bus, as it may cause another student to get an allergic reaction.
8. If you miss the bus go straight home. Parents should instruct students what to do if they miss the bus.
9. The driver has a schedule to keep and cannot wait, please be on time.
Any infractions of these rules, depending on the severity or repetitiveness, could result in the loss of privileges of riding the school bus. If for any reason your child needs to get off of the bus at a stop other than their regular stop or ride a different bus home with a friend you must send written permission with clear directions, parent signature, phone number and the date. If you should move during the school year and need to change stops, you must notify the transportation office as soon as you have your new address to avoid interruption in service.

BY SUBMITTING THIS FORM YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU ARE THE LEGAL GUARDIAN OF THE STUDENT(S)AND YOU HAVE READ AND UNDERSTOOD THE TRANSPORTATION RULES AND REVIEWED THEM WITH YOUR CHILD.
